Dean's Grand Rounds Special Event: "How to Succeed in Clinicals."
UMHS is pleased to announce a special session of
the Dean’s Grand Rounds will be held today, Monday, September 15th at 5:00 PM in the UMHS Auditorium on the St. Kitts campus. Dr George Shade will speak on "How to Succeed in Clinicals".
(Please note that
Epidemiology class has been reassigned to the Eastern Lab for this Monday)
George H. Shade Jr., M.D., F.A.C.O.G., F.A.C.P.E., is an obstetrician-gynecologist from Indianapolis,
Indiana where he is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including
Detroit Receiving Hospital / University Health Center and Harper
University Hospital / Hutzel Women's Hospital. Dr Shade received his medical
degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine and has been in
practice for 40 years.

The Deans' Grand Rounds for our Spring 2012 semester should also prove to be very interesting and informative. The schedule so far is as follows:

Pathology Professor Generously Donates to the University's Library
The
Anne Ross Library wishes to sincerely thank
Dr. Robert Fogel , Chair of Pathology, for the generous donation of more than 60 medical reference books. You will notice as you come into the library, we have relocated the
Reference Collection to the shelves next to the
'Course Notes' in order to accommodate this valuable donation. The anatomical models have moved into the old reference shelves.

Hematologist and expert on Sickle Cell Disease.
Dr. Adebayo Olujohungbe, whose current work is in cancer research, has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in the field of Hematology, a book on Sickle Cell Disease, as well as research articles on Multiple Myeloma.

SUPER QUIET & FOOD FREE ZONE! We are also making a
special request that you all take great care to
not allow the furniture to get wet! In addition, take note that any items
left unattended are
left at your own risk , and may be moved if the carrel is wanted by another student!

'ON' at all times.

The Scientist 2009 Video Awards, an annual international competition of the life sciences magazine
The Scientist, has honored the videomicrography work of
Arjumond Khan (currently studying medicine at
UMHS-SK) and
Benjamin Woodhouse.
The two students conducted their work in videomicrography as part of their senior research project at Western Connecticut State University. Their video captures the
microscopic time-lapse progression of the life cycle of the slime mold species Dictyostelium discoideum.The video was named one of three runners-up in the competition's Individual Category division.
