The
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has launched a new on-line tool aimed to help consumers take control of their own health care by connecting them to new information and resources that will help them access quality, affordable health care coverage. The government is billing this new website,
HealthCare.gov, as
"the first to provide consumers with both public and private health coverage options tailored specifically for their needs in a single, easy-to-use tool."

Mobile MedlinePlus is an optimized version for use on the various mobile communication devices. It includes a subset of content from the full
MedlinePlus site; such as summaries for over 800 diseases, conditions and wellness topics, latest health news, an illustrated medical encyclopedia, and information on prescription and over-the-counter medications.

Medpedia Project to collect the best information about health, medicine and the body and make it freely available worldwide.
Only physicians and Ph.D.s in a biomedical field are allowed to make edits directly to the article pages. However, everyone is encouraged to contribute by using the
"Suggest Changes" link at the top of each article page.
Think of
The Medpedia Project as the free technology platform for the medical community, a sort of 'Wikipedia' for the sharing and advancing of knowledge about health, medicine and the body.

MedlinePlus released a multilingual feature, providing access to high quality health information in languages other than English and Spanish. This new service benefits people who prefer to read consumer health information in their native language.The new collection contains over 2,500 links to information in more than 40 languages and covers nearly 250 Health Topics." Although not meant to be comprehensive, as with the English and Spanish collections, MedlinePlus staff select the materials according to their quality guidelines.
