The USMLE- Easy Question Bank from McGraw Hill has now been added to the growing list of online library resources that UMHS subscribes to for use by our faculty and students!

Kaplan USMLE Step 1 Lecture Notes Series


The latest acquisitions to the Anne Ross Library include numerous copies of the 2014 Kaplan USMLE Step 1 Lecture Notes series.

This series has 7 titles covering the Basic Science subjects. Five copies of each title have been added to our Reserve collection for use in the library, while an additional ten copies of each title are available to check out.

UMHS students please take note of the recent announcement by the NBME of the launch of NBME U, an online collection of lessons to aid your learning the range of topics in the basic sciences in preparation for the NBME shelf exams and USMLE Step 1 assessment.

Toronto Notes 2013 Now Available at the Anne Ross Library ~ UMHS

Toronto Notes, now in its 29th edition for 2013, is a concise and comprehensive medical review revised annually by the University of Toronto graduating medical class under the guidance of the Faculty of Medicine. This valuable resource is now availabe for consultation in the Library, just ask at the Library Desk. The accompanying StatNotes and Clinical Handbook are also available.


Considered THE resource for studying for the MCCQE 1 (the Canadian Medical Licensing Exam) and a must have for all medical students preparing for the USMLE Step 2 as well.

New Rules for Retaking the USMLE

PLEASE NOTE: The USMLE program have made adjustments to their rules regarding the retaking of the USMLE. The following is a quick overview of the changes that will go into effect on January 1, 2012.
"Starting January 1, 2012, examinees will be limited in the amount of times they can retake the USMLE within a calendar year. The following rules will apply to applications submitted before this date.

Examinees will be limited to:
4 attempts within a 12 month period for USMLE Step 1, 2 CK and 3.
3 attempts within a 12 month period for Step 2 CS.

For applications submitted on or after January 1, 2012, examinees will be limited to:
3 attempts within a 12 month period.
A 4th attempt must be at least 12 months after the first attempt and at least 6 months after the most recent attempt.

Examinees should take into consideration that their eligibility periods may be adjusted as necessary to fulfill these rules."

Completely Revised USMLE Step 1 Practice Exam

Now Available through

"This updated practice exam has been refined to provide a more realistic representation of the USMLE Step 1 exam, with questions that are more relevant and appropriate. Students will find that over 25% of the questions are new. Students will also find that, in keeping with updated USMLE guidelines, each question block now consists of 48 test items, for a total of 336 questions.

The comprehensive USMLE Step 1 Practice Exam consists of the following:
• 336 USMLE-Style Questions
