UMHS offers CME through AccessMedicine

AccessMedicine provides built-in American Medical Association Continuing Medical Education (CME) opportunities!
With our UMHS institutional site license UMHS faculty and students can obtain CME credits simply by browsing and reading content on AccessMedicine. Users can obtain up to 20 category 1 AMA credits through AccessMedicine. Credits are obtained when users read a CME eligible chapter from one of the many full text medical reference books included on AM, such as Harrison’s Principles of Internal Medicine. The user can choose to tag that material for CME, answer some basic follow-up questions, and then they will earn their CME certificate.
Users can also find CME eligible content within the new Clinical Prep feature on AccessMedicine.

Users also have the ability to set-up alerts to notify them when any eligible CME is about to expire so that they can claim that credit. An overview of what AccessMedicine resources are available for CME along with more details about this feature can be found at: About CME.

AccessMedicine adds Clinical Prep

AccessMedicine has launched a new feature with the addition of Clinical Prep. What Clinical Prep does is help to bridge the gap between course work and actual patient care experiences by providing access to common clinical questions.
"Clinical Prep offers more than 650 core topics essential for medical students. Within these 650+ core topics, students will find over 50,000 questions."
The questions and answer choices are written; as well as reviewed, and updated; several times a month by specialists who work in clinical settings
Clinical Prep supports learning in four key ways:

  • It provides a warm up for your brain before setting out on clinical rotations.
  • It helps students become familiar with clinical workflow and issues surrounding each disease.
  • Its topics and questions serve as a point-of-care tool in the wards.
  • Clinical Prep’s specialty/topic lists align with the USMLE Step 2 content outline and are the same topics as those found in "First Aid for the USMLE Step 2 CK". Which means that diseases included in this feature are likely to appear on the Step 2!

Anne Ross Library Catalogue Records Searchable in EBSCO Discovery Service

Now when you search for information resources using our 'one search' interface, the EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS), you will also be retrieving the holdings records of the Anne Ross Library.

Our  Library World OPAC (online public access catalogue) is now integrated into the EBSCO Discovery Service database to facilitate easier searching of the library's resources.

The Discover Search interface (EDS) is shown here highlighting the location of library holdings information. Links back to the LibraryWorld database are included. In the left side bar notice the location of the search 'limiter' to narrow your search to retrieve only items that are held in the library.

View of these same materials as found in the Anne Ross Library Catalogue.

EDS also includes records for the resources held at UMHS Maine Campus.
Links to our various eBook Collections and extensive downloadable ebook holdings are also retrievable through this same 'one search' interface.
