LMS Attendance Letter to UMHS Students
Attention All UMHS Students,
You have all now had time to get used to the idea of registering your class attendance in the LMS instead of Survey Monkey. Therefore, please note, that from Monday February 20, 2017, we will be expecting full compliance from every one of you! The responsibility rests entirely with YOU to ensure that your class attendance is accurately recorded for every class! Form the habit as you arrive in class each day - first- login to the LMS and record your attendance for that specific class. Please note you must record your attendance within the 15 minute window starting 5 minutes before the beginning of class until 10 minutes into class time.
Also beginning Monday February 20, 2017, the LMS Attendance software will treat any non-registration within the 15 minute window as "Absent". Please remember, as stated in the UMHS Student Handbook (p.14) and your course syllabi, in most courses failing to attend a minimum of 80% of classes may require you to retake the course. The reason for this requirement is that the UMHS Faculty & Administration, as well as Medical Licensing Boards and Medical School Accreditation Councils, all believe that your mental and physical presence in class is vital to your learning process!
You are further required to wear your UMHS Student ID cards at all times while on campus. You also are required to have a Library Barcode sticker on the back of your ID’s. Anyone still needing a replacement ID or Library Barcode please see IT and the Library Desk respectively. The Attendance Spot-checker can only confirm your attendance in class if you have a Library Barcode attached to your Student ID cards!
As physician’s-in-training your reputation and integrity are vital to your ongoing and future success – as is your attention to accurate record keeping and documentation. So this is only the beginning for you! Forming good habits now will only serve you well as you continue to move forward in your careers as medical professionals.
Thank you for your attention and co-operation,
